For most users a single 1A port is all you will need. This single port is compatible with just about everything. Even if your device can handle 2A or more, do you really need that in portable power? Key word here... portable?
At home your device is chained to the wall when charging. You might even be waiting for it to charge before you take it wherever your day is leading. Speed can be everything!
With a portable power pack... what's the hury? You can take the power with you!
A 2 port portable battery pack isn't very useful until you get into the larger sizes... say 7,000mAh or more. AND you also need to have a device that will benefit from a 2A charging port, like a larger tablet computer. Two ports could also be handy if you frequently find yourself needing to charge 2 devices at the same time.
What about size?
Portable power banks range from a tiny 1000mAh to heavy bricks with 20,000mAh or more.
2000mAh is enough to charge a typical smartphone 1 time.
4500mAh will charge a smartphone 2 times... maybe 3 if you haven't drained it all the way each time.
Batteries in small tablet PCs start at about 4500mAh so you will have to have a large power bank (5000mAh+) to even get one full charge out of it. The iPad 4th Gen tablet has a 11,500mAh battery so a power pack with 5000mAh capacity could only hope to add maybe 35% charge to your device. But this could get you several hours of additional use which is all many people need.
